About
Rebecca McBurney, Counsellor & Art Therapist
Engaging with counselling and art therapy processes can connect us with deeply held feelings, insights, values and strengths and gives us a way to express that which is beyond words. I act as a companion to you in this process; facilitating and supporting you to connect to what is meaningful and important to you.
My approach is gentle, person-centered, and experiential. I have been trained in the MIECAT method of therapeutic arts practice. I have a counselling style which has been inspired by
humanistic, person-centered psychotherapy.
Over the past 5 years, I have have provided therapeutic support to clients in Aged Care, Hospital and Palliative Care settings. I have experience working with clients experiencing existential distress, grief and loss, memory loss, financial disadvantage, addiction and complex trauma.
I have a Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice (Community Arts and Health) and a Graduate Certificate in Counselling. I have also completed studies in Clinical Pastoral Care, and have experience in providing support for people experiencing grief and loss following a bereavement.
